Rotherham Council has approved a premises licence allowing part of The Bridge Inn opposite Rotherham Central railway station to operate as a 24-hour shop.
Kari Retail Ltd has secured the licence for part of the ground floor, including permission for late-night refreshment and the sale of alcohol for consumption off the premises around the clock.
The prominent building dates from 1932 and sits inside Rotherham town centre's conservation area.
It was also added to the South Yorkshire Local Heritage List earlier this year.
