Barnsley Round Table has completed the third and final donation of its three-year commitment to Weston Park Cancer Charity, helping to keep the charity’s free transport service on the road.
This year’s donation has been funded by money raised through Barnsley Fanzone, organised by Barnsley Round Table over the summer, where England men’s matches were shown live throughout the World Cup. The donation comes as Barnsley Round Table prepares for Locke Park Bonfire, its flagship annual fundraising event, which returns on Saturday 7 November.
For the volunteers behind the event, the bonfire is about much more than providing a spectacle every November. Money raised through Barnsley Round Table’s events goes direct to worthy charities, community organisations and other good causes across the borough.
Mike Ogle, Fanzone lead at Barnsley Round Table, said: “We’re incredibly proud to have completed our three-year commitment to Weston Park Cancer Charity. It’s a brilliant cause, and knowing that the money we’ve raised is helping to keep their transport buses on the road makes all the hard work that goes into our events worthwhile.”
“This final donation has come from money raised at our Fanzone event over the summer, so everyone who came along and supported the event has played a part in making this possible.”
“With Locke Park Bonfire just around the corner, we also want people to know that when they buy a ticket and come along, they’re supporting charities and good causes that make a real difference to people’s lives.”
“We couldn’t do any of it without the support of the people of Barnsley.”
Barnsley Round Table is a young men’s voluntary organisation who put on events and fundraising activities throughout the year, with proceeds used to support charities and organisations making a difference to people in the local community and beyond.
With its three-year commitment to Weston Park Cancer Charity now complete, the group is turning its attention to Locke Park Bonfire, its main annual fundraiser, and is encouraging the people of Barnsley to once again get behind the event.
Tickets for the event can be purchased on the BRT website. https://bonfire.barnsleyroundtable.co.uk/
