Plans to demolish and rebuild a mosque on Broom Lane are due before Rotherham Council's Planning Board on Thursday 8 October.
The application relates to 158 Broom Lane and proposes replacing the existing building with a new mosque.
The proposed new building would include first-floor classrooms, improved washing facilities, new toilets, and a kitchen and dining space.
Planning officers have recommended approval of the application.
However, objections have been raised by residents over issues including parking, congestion and the size of the proposed building.
The application had not received a decision before today's meeting.
