Police have confirmed that the man reported as behaving suspiciously at Penistone Grammar School this morning was a father dropping off a bag. Officers were called to the school on Huddersfield Road at around 8.30am. The school went into lockdown as a precaution.
Penistone Grammar School has said the lockdown has now ended and everyone is safe. Police attended the site and confirmed that the school had taken the correct course of action. The school praised staff and students for remaining calm and following instructions throughout the incident.
Students continued with lessons for the remainder of the day. In a statement, the school said: "We are pleased to confirm that everyone is safe, and our security measures have worked as planned."
