Rotherham Council's household waste and recycling sites are set to open seven days a week throughout the year, the authority has said.
The new opening pattern will run every day of the year, including bank holidays, with three exceptions: Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.
The change adds an extra hour and a half to the current winter opening day, giving residents more time to drop off their waste and recycling during the colder months.
The council says bringing the sites back under direct management will also allow further improvements to reuse and recycling.
For anyone whose car boot has been full of stuff destined for the tip for around three weeks, the extra opening hours should come in handy.
