Rotherham's four household waste recycling centres are set to open for longer during the winter when their management returns directly to the council later this month.
From 28 October, sites at Greasbrough, Bramley, Rawmarsh and North Anston are due to open from 9.30am until 5pm seven days a week throughout the year.
Rotherham Council says bringing the centres back under its direct control will give it greater flexibility over how the sites operate, with further improvements to recycling, reuse facilities and staffing also planned.
