Planning officers have recommended that councillors refuse retrospective permission for a padel court at Ecclesall Lawn Tennis Club.
The court was constructed without planning permission and complaints have since been made by nearby residents about noise.
A council report describes padel noise as impulsive, repetitive and intrusive and concludes that it causes unacceptable disturbance to neighbouring homes.
An abatement notice issued earlier this year has already stopped use of the court.
The application has not yet been finally refused. Sheffield's Planning and Highways Committee is due to consider it on 13 October.
