A fresh dispute is developing at Barnsley Hospital over proposed changes to staff contracts.
The union GMB says almost 200 workers are affected, including nurses, radiographers and other frontline staff.
The union says staff who do not agree to changes involving paid breaks, unpaid breaks and contract terms could face dismissal and re-engagement on new contracts.
GMB says it is considering legal action, industrial action and political action in response.
It is important to make clear that the description of the proposals as “fire and rehire” is GMB’s characterisation of the dispute.
A separate dispute involving Royal College of Midwives members in maternity services reached an agreement last month.
The latest GMB disagreement remains ongoing.
