Plans for a dedicated accommodation hub for women experiencing or at risk of rough sleeping are due before Rotherham Council's Cabinet on Monday 12 October.
The council says there is currently no commissioned women-only accommodation of this kind in the borough.
The proposed service would provide safe women-only accommodation, trauma-informed support, specialist help on site, and support towards independent living.
The council says women experiencing homelessness can sometimes remain less visible because they stay in unsafe or temporary situations rather than sleeping on the streets.
The proposed hub is currently planned to open from October 2027.
The proposal forms part of a wider homelessness programme worth around £639,000 a year, and would be funded through the Homelessness, Rough Sleeper and Domestic Abuse Grant.
The hub has not yet been approved. Cabinet is due to consider the plans on Monday 12 October.
